TRENDING: SUPERHERO CHIC

As I watched Marvel's The Avengers this past weekend I was amazed to see the beautiful Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) fly across the screen in her skintight cat suit and defend her fellow super heroes while in a cocktail dress.  

So of course, as I do on any given Sunday I went in search of my perfect superhero ensemble.  No- I will be not rocking a black catsuit anytime soon but I thought that this Marc Cain dress below was the perfect combination of sexy and sporty.  I am also confident that I could take on just about anyone in this fabulous stretch knit.  

MAKE-UP OF THE MOMENT: PLUM SHADOW

If you love a smokey eye but maybe want something a little softer this Spring try using a plum shadow instead of black as your base.  The look is still sexy but also playful.  Purple compliments a variety of skin tones and really makes blue or green eyes pop.  Dust a silver or gold shimmer on top and in the inner corner of your eye for an added touch of glam.

LOOK OF THE MONTH: SPRING SHORTS

Think of them as your skirt alternative.  Shorts are meant to be easy, so don't buy them snug like jeans- feel free to go up a size.  

To flatter your leg, make sure that you cover the widest part of your thigh.  

We love a tailored cut with a thin belt and flats or wedges.  Big prints are a great way to add colour and bold prints into your wardrobe.  

The Look: For day tuck a crisp button down (our favorite being Equipment), pair with a blazer or cardigan and a thin tan belt.  For evening, pair with a flowy sheer top and a leather jacket.  

Celebrities 40 and under are loving he trend for both day and night.  Wear a short suit with a heel for evening for a chic suit alternative.  

Work Style

The Lucky One's Taylor Schilling wore a crisp blue Elizabeth and James suit with nude flats and a classic trench while doing promos for her new movie in London.

Love coloured suiting for an uplifting work look.  Pair any of these pieces individually with your basic black/grey/brown suiting for a pop of colour.
